Alexander Peterson

ALEXANDER PETERSON JR. 79,son of the late Alexander Peterson Sr. and Emma Everett Peterson was born Thursday, March 25, 1943 in the Lower Hill District of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He was the oldest of eight children in his family - his brothers James “Abby”, Phillip, Marvin, Ronald, Dana and two sisters Denise Bennett and Deidre Peterson Hill. It was God’s will that he departed this life to be with the Lord and his loving wife Barbara, daughters’ Verda Lisa and Marla on the Morning of Tuesday, December 13, 2022 leaving behind a huge legacy in the Peterson Family.
Alex grew up in the Lower Hill District of Pittsburgh and at a very young age assumed the responsibility of helping his mother raise his brothers and sisters. As a young man he enjoyed singing, boxing, baseball and football. He attended Conrad Technical School and worked for The Blue Stone Metal Company. He was an avid Pittsburgh Pirate and Steeler fan.
On August 22, 1961, he married the love of his life, the late Reverend Barbara Jean (Darden) Peterson to whom he stayed married to for 50 years until her passing on September 10, 2011. Through this union came seven children, Lavaughn (Jennifer) Pittsburgh, PA, Alexander III, (Sandra) Newark, Delaware, Terri Lynn Harris, Pittsburgh, PA, Verda Lisa (deceased), Marla (deceased), Tyrone Montgomery, Orlando, FL, and Jeremiah Joshua, Pittsburgh, PA.
His wife Barbara, two daughter’s Verda Lisa and Marla were predeceased at the time of his death. Alex was a loving husband and dedicated father to all of his children, brothers, sisters and grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews Alex wanted everyone to know the best part of his life journey was with his loving wife, children and grandchildren. Public Viewing will be held Monday December 19, 2022 10am until time of service 11am Destiny of Faith
