Cornelius Johnson (68) of Aliquippa, Pennsylvania, peacefully slept away to be with the Lord on Monday, September 4, 2023. Cornelius, fondly known as “Conique”, was born to Charlie and Bernice Johnson on August 31, 1955, in Rochester, Pennsylvania. He was a devoted father, a beloved sibling, and a friend to many in both his hometown of Aliquippa, PA (AKA Logstown) and Columbus, Ohio where he resided from 1989-2011. In Columbus, Cornelius was a faithful member of World Harvest Church, where he served as a Lay Minister and Usher. For more than 20 years, Cornelius also worked as a dedicated employee at Cable Express, where he began his career as a cable technician and was later promoted to a management role. Cornelius valued his relationships with family, church members, friends, and co-workers. He enjoyed sports, was an avid golfer, loved fishing, and was a dedicated fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers. Cornelius was also a self-taught craftsman and was known for his kind heart, charisma, and witty sense of humor.
Upon his retirement from the cable industry in 2011, Cornelius transitioned from Columbus, Ohio to spend his final years in Beaufort, South Carolina before he returned home to Pennsylvania in 2022, where he was well cared for by family & his childhood friends.
He was preceded in death by his father & mother (Charlie & Bernice Johnson), his siblings (Charlene, Charlie Jr., Melvin, James, and Denice), and several aunts and uncles. Cornelius leaves behind, to continue his legacy, his daughters (Rochelle Dixon & Amanda Smith), his grandchildren (Milan Williams & Tyease Smith Jr.), his brothers (Anthony Johnson, Andrew Johnson & Charles Pope), and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Public viewing will be held Friday, September 15, 2023 from 11 am until time of Celebration of life 12 noon both held at The Gospel Tabernacle 100 Parkridge Dr. Alliquippa PA 15001.
