Roscoe Peake

Roscoe Peake Sr., 95 known as, Deacon Roscoe Peake to the Aliquippa Community and
affectionately called Raz by family and friends, entered through the door to the Eternal City,
on Monday, May 6, 2024, following a brief illness at the home of his daughter Delphia Lynn and Darrell Henry. He was born on January 7, 1929, to his late parents Leola and Eddie Peake in Union, South
Carolina. He was a graduate of Sims High School, where he played on the football and baseball teams. Served his country honorably, as a Corporal, in the United States Army and served on the first line of defense in ground combat in the Korean War. After the war he relocated to Aliquippa Pa. and was employed by American Bridge Steel, in Ambridge, Pa.
He joined and became a faithful member of Tried Stone Baptist Church with his loving wife Beulah Mae Roberts Peake under the Pastorship of his father-in-law, Reverand Grant Roberts. During his 69 years of membership, he served on the Deacon Board, and attended Sunday School. Roscoe Peake Sr., Tank Smith, Willie White, Aaron White, Sims Good were members of the original Trumpets Of Joy Quartet group. William “Shorty” Freeman, who established a Quartet group, named the Golden Bells, united
with the Trumpets Of Joy and took on their name. His son, Elder Joe L. Freeman headed the group after his father's death and continues today along with his family.
Deacon Roscoe Peake sang in many churches in different states and throughout the Tri-state
area. He was in concert with many Gospel singers/groups (the late great Julius Cheeks and the
Swan Silvertones). Many concerts were held at Jones School Elementary gymnasium in Aliquippa. He also could be heard singing, on Sunday mornings, on WBVP/WNBA radio located in Beaver Falls Pa. and had the honor of traveling to Nashville Tennessee to sing at the Grand Ole Opry. He loved the Aliquippa Community and served it well. He worked as an Aliquippa Auxiliary Police Officer, Beaver County Constable, Commander of Security at Valley Terrace, and the Town Tower Apartment complexes. He enjoyed working security at the Aliquippa Football
games and the Infinity Night Club in Rochester, to keep his eyes on, not just his relatives but
the community children. On his 90th Birthday, he received recognition, on reaching that milestone and the contributions to the enrichment and generous well-being of others, from Pennsylvania U S House of
Representative, Robert Matzie. He was preceded in death by his wife Beulah Mae Peake, son Eddie Peake Sr; grandson Eddie Peake Jr; granddaughter Sharmion Peake, his parents Leola and Eddie Peake Sr; his sisters Margaree Young and Delores Emerson, his brothers Eugene Peake, Eddie Peake, Jr., Louis
David Peake, Abraham Peake, and George E. Peake, his sister-in-laws Georgia Mae Peake, Betty Peake, Sophronia Peake and bother-in -laws William Emerson Jr. and Frank Henderson. He leaves to cherish his children, Wanda Y. Peake, Roscoe (Nadine) Peake Jr., Gloria (GiGi) Peake, Delphia Lynn (Darrell) Henry, Kerry A. Peake, and Marcus C. Peake. His devoted siblings Helen (Howard) Carter, Ruby Henderson, and James (Mary) Peake and a host of
Grandchildren, Great grands, Nieces, and Nephews whom he loved and enjoyed spending quality time.
Friends will be received Thursday from 5 to 8 PM at Tried Stone Missionary Baptist Church, 505 Washington Street, Aliquippa. Service will be on Friday at 10:00 AM with pastor Rev.
Henry Murphy Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in National Cemetery of the Alleghenies,
Washington County, PA.
